Although I am really enjoying my time away from university, it doesn't mean that I have nothing to do. As I mentioned in previous posts, university blessed me with a big to-do list for this break. I have a few essays due and some tests to study for. So instead of throwing away my time, I still want to be productive during these days of. This way I also give myself less stress after the holidays. So in today's post, I will share some of my tips to still be productive while being away from school. So that you will start the next year with not to much stress.
For me, the most important reason I will not focus on work for university is because I am distracted by something else. When I'm in my room there are too many things that distract me and that keeps me away from doing actual work. Sometimes even my computer distracts me because I start watching YouTube videos, etc. A big motivator for me is to actually get out of the house. Recently I've been spending some time in one of my favourite cafes in Arnhem. Here I order a coffee for myself, I open my laptop and I do some work for uni. I already made a plan for my essay and I ordered my agenda for the next year.
Another big tip is to write down what you need to do. If my thoughts are a mess, it's not likely that I get things done. Personally, I need to visualize what I need to do. I often write down all the deadlines I have, plus I make daily to-do-lists. If I wake up with a plan for the day, I am more productive and I will actually get things done!
During these days of Christmas, I enjoyed sleeping in. Getting out of bed around 11:30 am wasn't good for my productivity, but I needed it. Now I try to get my sleep schedule back to a normal rhythm. By waking up early, it feels like I have more time in my day to get things done. Plus, I don't like to spend all my time doing stuff for university, I also like to have time for myself and relax during these days off.
And my final tip for today: find balance. After these busy weeks of doing work, school stuff and prepping for the holidays you deserve some rest and time for yourself. But find balance, treat yourself with watching a film or relaxing in a hot bath. But don't make the mistake of doing everything last minute. That is not the way you want to start your new year, at least that's what I think. Make a planning of your days and spend time in your stuff for school and plan out time for yourself. This way you make the most out of your days.
